Modern Development of The Lakeland, Fell
Modern Day Development in Show, Field and Hunt etc...

    Graham Ward:
Graham Ward was not driven by fame or fortune in the dog world, like most terrier men enjoyed the peace and tranquility of life, in the fields with his absolute passion, his red Lakeland's, not only did he have a super keen eye for a great looking dog but also a tremendous gift of knowing how to pick the right dog for the right bitch in order to produce some real belters, he constantly and repetitively produced cracking looking Lakeland's, and for quite some time he was a force to be reckoned with in the field, game fair show scene including the terrier nationals, all across the country his dogs were taking top honors, winning shows all over the UK, Graham, when he was in the terriers, was a true blue terrier man, a true custodian of the breed and many believe that it was Graham that put the stamp of quality and type on many of the great looking terriers we have today with his choice of selective breeding.

What also must be noted is that it doesn't matter how good or great a keeper or breeders of terriers you are, you have to start with the right tools, (can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear), Graham started with the right tools, he had one dog that he showed quite heavily in the early strectch of his time within the breed, and this dog won him a ton of 1st's places in the show scene, this dog was also a real grafter, but also a real type setter, putting his stamp of quality on every litter being produced, Graham also had a small red bitch that he only bred her 3 times but with every litter, she produced the same type of quality, every one of them off her were belters.

Graham like any other terrier man in the game, he had fair share of friends, foes and acquaintances, luckily enough for Graham, he was at the top of his game with what he had, what he was showing and what is was producing, so like any good terrier man, you are targeted, and draws the attention from others, not easy been at the top, but he had many friends in the terrier world.

    what a Belter ...

Graham was also a friends with another great terrier man, John Winch who also had a trusting friendship. I think it's fair to say that Graham Ward is, was a true custodian of the modern day red Lakeland, fell and has given us a great stamp of terrier within the breed...
