Me and My CowRazy Friends ...
Hi, my name is Aidan Delaney and I am 11 years old. I don't know much about cattle, all I know is I LOVE them, especially the one I have now (Toby.)

My dad got me two really nice fullblood British White show prospects about two years ago. One I named Flour and the other one Sugar because they were both white. I was very new to cattle and think I was a bit young because when I tried to halter break them I got squished against a solid wood fence and run over and was always a bit scared after that. They were really good bloodlines and one of them turned out to have very nice conformation and was looking good for the shows but I was afraid of getting hurt again so I stopped looking after them. My dad took over the chores of cleaning and feeding them and thought I might be able to handle them later. My dad decided since I was not going to show them that it was a shame to have them sitting in the pasture and not doing anything with them, so he decided to sell them to someone who wanted to put them in a breeding program. We found two good homes for them but my dad was real sad because he said that they were excellent bloodlines and would be hard to come across again.

I then got a miniature horse and a goat to help build up my confidence around animals and now that I'm bigger I have my confidence back and have the greatest steer named, wait for it...........Toby Beef. He is named after my favorite country singer Toby Keith. He is a BrahSwiss, a Brahman and Brown Swiss cross and is my best friend. I love him and think he is the funniest steer with a great character. He was a bottlefed calf that I got for a 4H project but Shush! I'm sorry I can't butcher or sell my best friend, I just can't, maybe some others but not Toby. Just look at his photograph and you will see why, he's my buddy. I have learned a lot from Toby. I have successfully dehorned him using dehorning paste and for my birthday, now I know this doesn't sound like a fun toy or gift, but for a cattle kid ya'll will understand, I got a castrating gun with rubberbands. So on the day of my birthday that is what I did!! I have recently had a bout of Bloat with Toby and in the process of learning about Bloat was able to relieve him of that by drenching him with Mineral Oil. Now its so funny because I feel so happy when I hear him burp!

I think I will get another show British White steer/heifer when we move to a bigger place. Hopefully soon this year I might get a few Lowlines because my dad likes the Lowlines because they remind him of the older type of angus that he was raised with back in Ireland, the true Aberdeen Angus he said. I like the Lowlines for their size because I still tend to like miniature cattle, horses and donkies.

I will continue with more about me and my friends later.

British White Cattle ...
There are quite a few people in the breed that have given so much of themselves to establish this wonderful breed here in the USA. Amazing individuals with dedication and a lifetime study of careful selective breeding that has carried the breed to gain popularity, with the numbers growing every year.

A little bit of history regarding the breed I think is very interesting.

In 1940, the British government (Sir Winston Churchill) ordered the shipment of a group of British White cattle to America to safeguard a precious national heritage if the United Kingdom were invaded during World War II. The cattle, as their name implies, are white with, normally, black points, nose, muzzle. eyelids, teats and feet.

Here are two British White show prospects I once owned, Flour 17, Sugar 14

The British White Cattle Association of America (BWCAA) was formed in 1988 and it joins British White societies of Great Britain and Australia in promoting and registering the polled British White cattle of the world.

A Few Excellent Cornerstone Sire's
Here are photographs of two great sires
British White Bull - De Beauvoir Huckleberry Finn
British White Bull - Hevingham Polaris

I would like to get a photograph of Woodbastwick Randolph Turpin.

Here are some other sires
British White Bull - Woodbastwick Valentine
British White Bull - Woodbastwick Randolph Turpin
British White Bull - Halliburton Colonel 4

I think Jonathan & Erika Wiechmann Family, Shadehill, SD are producing some really good stuff, just look at this boy!

Brahman/Brown Swiss ... BrahSwiss :-)
My one and only steer at the moment is my BrahSwiss, Brahman and Brown Swiss steer Toby Beef :-)

I will write more about him later.

Cutting Horses
I also like cutting horses. I attend a lot of NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association) events and know all the stallions like most kids know baseball players. I am really into bloodlines and currently have a cutting filly named Triples Shorty Chex which I call BB around the house for short. She is a quiet sweet filly who is a granddaughter of Shorty Lena and King Fritz. I love to ride horses.

This is a photograph of "Smart Little Lena", the #1 cutting horse sire in the entire world, sire of offspring earnings of $35,082,001. I am truly one of Smart Little Lena's greatest fans, for my 10th birthday all I wanted to do was visit the Manion Ranch and see Smart Little Lena so my parents made it happen. Many thanks to Kyle Manion and the gang at the Manion Ranch for letting love all over Lena and also getting to meet Smooth As A Cat!

Here is the cutting legend "Lena" at 29 years old.
